Phishing Simulation Alert - You Failed

You clicked a link in a simulated phishing email. These are regularly sent by bad actors in order to steal your personal information. In a real situation, clicking a suspicious link could expose your device, your accounts, or confidential client information to attackers. Today’s test was safe — but it shows how easily a real phishing attempt could succeed.

What You Missed in the Email

Here are the warning signs that appeared in the message:

  • Unexpected urgency (“we will wire you the money right away”)

  • Unusual or awkward phrasing that didn’t sound like the sender

  • Misspellings and grammar errors

  • A request to click a link to confirm financial information

  • Sender name didn’t match the tone or writing style you’d expect

  • Generic greeting instead of a personalized message

Any one of these should raise suspicion. Together, they’re a strong indicator of phishing.

How to Protect Yourself Going Forward

Before clicking links or opening attachments, always:

  • Stop and verify — If something feels off, call or text the sender directly.

  • Hover over links to see where they really lead.

  • Check the sender’s email address carefully for misspellings or odd domains.

  • Be skeptical of urgency — attackers want you to act fast without thinking.

  • Never enter login or financial information unless you’re 100% sure the request is legitimate.

NOTE: We do use a system called Deposit Link to send money and Shanae will be able to confirm any email regarding Deposit Link.
